This program focuses on the overall development of women especially widows in the fishing villages we function.
Widows who are young and not employed, live in dire conditions, with no aid to support them or their children.

Some of our current projects through which AOM supports the development of women are:
Vocational Training
Sewing Machines have been distributed to those widows whose machines were swept off during Tsunami and some of them are studying tailoring as their vocation.
Some of the women have been monetarily aided to set up small fruit and vegetable shops, dry fish sales to support their families.

Construction of Homes
AOM has already completed building concrete homes for two widows residing in Kadalur Thop,Kalpakkam.
Most widows continue to live in dire circumstances and are unable to construct proper homes.

Child Education
In its School Education Programme,AOM has prioritized educating the children of the widows who are unable to provide their children with education due to lower socio economic status.

Long term strategy would be to introduce a women’s self help group that will enable women to start small businesses that will in turn empower women to become more self sufficient.
