A medical camp done earlier brought to light, the need for cataract operations for fishermen as most of them suffer from eye ailment. The patients were taken to Kanchipuram, where they underwent cataract surgery and were provided with glasses.
TSUNAMI RELIEF
On the 26th Dec we tried to reach the spot but the roads were closed. On the 27th morning we visited the villages from Neelankarai to Kalpakam (on the ECR), where about 70 people died. We visited each fishing village, talked to the village head and took a realistic damage survey. While we were taking the damage survey the Scope International contacted and expressed their willingness to pay for 1000 packets of food and 1500 packets of water. On 27th night itself we provided hot meals and drinking water for about 10 villages. We want to say a big thank you to Scope International and we hope that many others will come and help us in this time of need.
